Certification of Waterco’s Multicylcone Pre-Filtration Device to NSF/ANSI Standard 50 Demonstrates Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – NSF International today announced that Waterco is the first swimming pool and spa equipment manufacturer to receive certification to NSF/ANSI Standard 50 - Equipment for Swimming Pools, Spas, Hot Tubs and Other Recreational Water Facilities for a pre-filtration device. Certification to this American National Standard for swimming pool and spa equipment verifies that performance and material health effects requirements have been met.
“As a worldwide provider of water treatment equipment, it is our duty to provide economical and environmentally-friendly methods of conserving our most precious natural resources,” said Mike Melaney, Engineering Manager of Waterco. “We strive to continually improve our product and take steps to educate our customers and the public on the importance of preserving the environment and improving our global future.”
NSF/ANSI Standard 50 is the American National Standard for swimming pools, spas, hot tubs and other recreational water equipment. The standard covers filters and filter media, pumps, valves, water circulation devices, hose, piping, fittings, pool alarms, pool covers, chemical generation and feeding systems, and advanced water treatment and oxidation technologies, such as ozone and ultraviolet (UV) systems. Most local and U.S. pool codes require compliance with NSF/ANSI Standard 50.
NSF is accredited as a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and as a certification organization by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for numerous product standards.
The official NSF Standard 50 Listing for Waterco is available on NSF's Web site. For achieving certification, Waterco can place the NSF Mark on its certified Multicyclone pre-filtration devices.
“Waterco’s decision to pursue certification to NSF/ANSI Standard 50 demonstrates their commitment to environmental conservation and public health,” said Dave Purkiss, General Manager that oversees NSF’s Recreational Water Certification Program.
