NSF International Certifies BECSysAutomatic Controllers for Pools, Spas and Water Parks

First company to have automatic controller products used in recreational water applications certified by NSF

BECSys™ automatic controllers

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – NSF International has certified BECSys automatic controllers for recreational water applications to the requirements of NSF American National Standard (NSF/ANSI Standard 50).  BECSys automatic controllers monitor essential conditions such as pH, ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential), and temperature and control various water treatment devices to maintain consistent water quality and are the first automatic controllers to be certified by NSF to NSF/ANSI Standard 50: Equipment for Pools, Spas, Hot Tubs, and Other Recreational Water Facilities.

NSF Certification to the American National Standard verifies that the product does not contribute excessive levels of contaminants to the water, is resistant to corrosion, is durable in design and construction and has been evaluated for functional performance against rigorous tests such as life testing, microbiological disinfection efficacy, output testing and pressure tests. Certification to NSF/ANSI Standard 50 is required by most U.S. States.

NSF/ANSI Standard 50 covers products used in residential and public swimming pools, spas and other recreational water facilities such as water parks. The standard contains requirements for many different product types.  For controllers, NSF Certification includes evaluation of: material safety, corrosion resistance, and design and construction.  Controllers must also pass monitor display accuracy and controller output accuracy verification of pH, ORP, and chlorine/bromine parameters.  Controllers are also required to pass 110,000 cycle life testing, 100-day chemical resistance exposure, product marking, operational and use instructions and labeling review requirements.

BECSys automatic controllers successfully met all of NSF/ANSI Standard 50 performance evaluation and testing requirements. NSF performs annual, unannounced inspections of facilities that manufacture NSF Certified products and NSF conducts periodic product retesting to verify continual compliance with certification requirements.

“The NSF Certification of BECS Technology to the robust requirements of NSF/ANSI 50 helps assure owners and operators of recreational water facilities that the BECSys controllers have met or exceeded the highest level of testing and certification for products that monitor and help maintain optimum water chemistry to protect swimmers,” said Dave Purkiss, General Manager of  NSF International’s Water Treatment and Distribution Program.

“We are excited that the BECSysline of controllers are the only automatic controllers to be certified by NSF International’s Recreational Water Certification Program to date, adding even more credibility to the BECSysbrand,” said BECS Technology, Inc. President Brett Steinbrueck. “NSF Certification for health and performance positions our advanced water treatment products for greater use in municipal and commercial facilities as well as private residences and promotes further use and acceptance of our products throughout North American and global markets.”
