Lisa Yakas - Senior Microbiologist - Food Division, NSF International

Lisa Yakas
Lisa Yakas has more than 10 years of experience in Food Science and Microbiology. She has been with NSF International for six years, joining the company in January 2005 as a Senior Microbiologist, where she manages the day-to-day team activities in the Food Division of the Microbiology Laboratory. She serves as the primary lab contact and coordinator for a variety of NSF International programs, including Food Safety, Dietary Supplements, Private Label Assurance and Toy Safety.

Prior to joining NSF International, Yakas was a Food Scientist for Elopak, Inc., a global food packaging company. There, she conducted microbiological and chemical tests on food packaging equipment and materials, operated and maintained the Microbiology and Food Science laboratories and conducted customer hygiene plant audits.

Yakas is a member of several professional organizations, including the Institute of Food Technologists, International Association of Food Protection and both the Michigan and National Environmental Health Associations. She earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Food Science from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
