Recommendations for Use of the Registration Mark

Size

For visibility and legibility, it is recommended that the NSF Mark (circle) be reproduced no smaller than 3/8 inches (.9525 cm) in diameter in print materials.

Color Options

  • 100% Pantone 294
  • White logo on 100% Pantone 294 background
  • White logo on 100% black background

If you will be using the mark onscreen, please use one of the following color specifications in place of Pantone 294:

  • Hexadecimal color code #005A9C (for web graphics)
  • RBG value Red: 0, Green: 90, Blue: 156 (for Microsoft Word, select custom colors and enter the correct RBG value)

Rectangular Box Under the NSF Mark

To designate a specific product registration, a rectangular box shall be placed under the NSF Mark. The examples below demonstrate use of a rectangular box. Text should be sized in proportion to the NSF Mark. Text shall be worded as follows:

Nonfood Compounds
Program Listed (Category Code)
(Registration #)

The text in parenthesis should be replaced by the category code and registration number that are specific to your product. To create a mark for your product, it is recommended that you downloaded the EPS version of the mark. Several common software applications, such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, and Macromedia Freehand would then allow you to remove the filler text and enter in the appropriate category code(s) and number for your product. If you do not have access to a program that supports EPS files, you can download the plain NSF Mark in another format (IBM TIF, Mac TIF, GIF) and create the box according to the following specifications:

  • Text in the box should be Gotham Bold and legible.
  • Arial may be substituted for gotham if your project manager approves.
  • The stroke weight for the box lines should be 1 pt.

Please refer to the current version of the NSF International Registration Guidelines for Proprietary Substances and Nonfood Compounds, section 3.2.3 for detailed requirements for using the NSF Mark on product labels. Please note that all exceptions to the registration guidelines must be approved in advance by your NSF project manager.
