End Use Marks

The different end use Marks identify, to the end user and regulatory authority, the end use application for which the Certified product has been evaluated. Below is each individual end use Mark and its description.

NSF-pw

The product is manufactured for potable water application. It meets all applicable performance standards for a pressure rated application as required in NSF/ANSI Standard 14, and complies with NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for health effects.

NSF-wc

The product used in potable water application meets all applicable performance standards for well casing as required in NSF/ANSI Standard 14, and complies with NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for health effects.

NSF-dwv

The product complies with the applicable performance standards as required by NSF/ANSI Standard 14 for drain, waste, and vent applications. No health effects evaluation is required.

NSF-tubular

The product meets all applicable performance requirements for continuous waste applications as specified in NSF/ANSI Standard 14. No health effects evaluation is required.

NSF-cw

The product meets the applicable performance standard as required by NSF/ANSI Standard 14 for corrosive waste applications. No health effects evaluation is required.

NSF-sewer

The product complies with the applicable performance standard as required by NSF/ANSI Standard 14 for sewer applications. No health effects evaluation is required.

NSF-drain

The product meets the applicable performance standard as required by NSF/ANSI Standard 14 for drainage applications. No health effects evaluation is required.

NSF-61

Products certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61. They are evaluated for health effects only. They are not evaluated for the performance requirements of NSF/ANSI Standard 14.

NSF-rfh

Products meet all applicable performance requirements for a pressure rated floor heating application specified in NSF/ANSI Standard 14. No health effects evaluation is required.

NSF-rw

Products meeting the applicable performance standards for reclaimed water applications as required by NSF/ANSI Standard 14, including a hydrostatic design basis (HDB). No health effects evaluation is required.

NSF-(end use) SE

Certified Special Engineered (SE) products shall bear a Mark which indicated the end use application. The SE Mark is used for products for which there is not a recognized national performance standard.

NSF-Cl-R

The product meets the requirements of NSF Protocol P171 for the chlorine resistance Domestic Recirculation category and complies with NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for health effects.

NSF-Cl-TD

The product meets the requirements of NSF Protocol P171 for the chlorine resistance Traditional Domestic category and complies with NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for health effects.

All Marks must show "NSF" in upper case followed by the end-use designation in lower case. SE products shall have the letters SE in upper case after the end use.

Some products may be dual marked; they have been evaluated against multiple end use applications. A common example of a dual Marked product is PVC Sch. 40 pipe. Typically, this product will be evaluated and Certified against two ASTM standards, ASTM D1785 (pressure applications) and ASTM D2665 (drain, waste, and vent applications). As a result, the products will bear both the NSF-pw and NSF-dwv Marks, indicating the product meets all requirements for both end uses.
