Leveraging Your NSF Certification: Now that you've received NSF Certification ... why not leverage the Mark to your advantage.

Environmental health specialists, sanitarians, building and plumbing inspectors, and water utility operators face continuing challenges to protect the public health and safety of the citizens in their communities. NSF offers programs and services to augment and support the work of regulatory officials. These programs include the development of public health standards, certification of products to standards, and education and training in all areas of environmental health, including air, water, and food safety. If an authority believes an NSF-Certified product does not meet an applicable NSF/ANSI Standard, NSF investigates the product and its use. If the complaint is valid, NSF works with the applicable manufacturer to obtain corrective action.
As a key stakeholder in regulatory and code issues affecting the plumbing industry, NSF regularly attends meetings and conferences of state and local government officials. Our goal is to work with these agencies to develop appropriate language for legislation and regulations that specify NSF/ANSI Standards for certification. NSF also works with official code bodies to develop model building, mechanical, and plumbing codes in order to recognize and require products certified under the applicable product standards.
