Green Squared℠

NSF offers Green Squared℠ Certification for sustainable tiles and installation materials, further expanding the NSF certification programs for building and furnishing products.Green Squared is a new product certification program developed by the Tile Council of North America and based on Standard A138.1 Specifications for Sustainable Ceramic Tiles, Glass Tiles and Tile Installation. Standard A138.1 is the first consensus-based sustainability standard for the industry. The Green Squared certification process includes a comprehensive and independent assessment of environmental and social impacts of tile products and materials.

Conformance to Green Squared is met through achieving mandatory requirements and a specified number of elective criteria. The Standard covers these criteria categories:

Certification to Green Squared allows tile and installation material manufacturers to distinguish their more sustainable products from competitors and enhance their brand. They may also realize cost savings through adoption of more sustainable practices.
