Introduced in 2006, WaterSense® is a voluntary public-private partnership program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Its mission is to protect the future of our nation's water supply by promoting and enhancing the market for water-efficient products and services.
NSF International plays a key role in the program as an EPA Licensed Certification Body. This means that NSF has been approved to test and certify products to the WaterSense specification as designated by the EPA. NSF is also authorized to grant the WaterSense label for certified products.
