Certification Process

NSF's certification of products to the EPA WaterSense® program is a simple 7-step process.

Step 1: Completion of the EPA Manufacturers Partnership Agreement

Step 2: Completion of the NSF application. Visit the NSF website to obtain a quote for product testing and certification or contact Tom Gloden at gloden@nsf.org 1-734-913-5785.

Step 3: Product testing to WaterSense specification in accordance with the WaterSense product certification system.

Step 4: NSF inspection of production facility.

Step 5: NSF Listing and authorization for WaterSense label.

Step 6: Contact EPA to submit a New Certified Product Notification Form to update the EPA WaterSense product registry.

Step 7: Ongoing monitoring program including factory inspections and product retesting.
