
In 2008, U. S. lawmakers introduced the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). The purpose of this act is to help ensure that safer toys are making their way to U.S. consumers. Not only does this act contain requirements for lead and a ban on certain phthalates for products intended for children under 12, it also requires mandatory third-party testing and labeling for all toys and many other children's products being produced or imported into the U. S.
