NSF International certifies clothes dryers under Protocol P154. This protocol is very similar to NSF P172 for clothes washers, except that it was developed to confirm the ability of residential clothes dryers to effectively sanitize household laundry after washing. As is the case with sanitizing clothes washers, certified dryers must be able to reduce 99.9% of microorganisms and prevent significant carry over of contamination to subsequent dryer loads in order to earn certification.
