Home Product and Appliance Tips
NSF works hard to make sure that the kitchen products and other appliances that you use in your home each day are safer.
The NSF Home Product Certification Program helps consumers identify products that are certified for quality and safety. This program is based on, but separate from, the NSF Commercial Foodservice Equipment Program. The testing protocols used are specific to home use and incorporate all applicable product quality, performance and food contact material regulations. To meet the requirements for NSF certification, manufacturers’ designs and materials must be safe, non-toxic and FDA compliant. In addition, to maintain high quality, each product goes through quality and performance testing to confirm life cycle, durability and functionality for home use.
In addition to testing and certifying a wide array of home products and small appliances under its Home Products Certification Program, NSF also tests and certifies large home appliances for design and performance under separate criteria, including residential dishwashers as well as clothes washers and dryers.
