EMC Insurance Companies Announces Support of NSF’s Automotive Collision Replacement Parts Program
NSF Certification evaluates auto collision replacement parts to verify they meet rigid quality, safety and performance standards
ANN ARBOR, Mich. and DES MOINES, IA — EMC Insurance Companies support the NSF International Collision Replacement Parts Certification Program. NSF Certified Collision Replacement Parts are equivalent in form, fit and function to original equipment service parts, which is verified through NSF’s comprehensive certification program.
NSF International’s Automotive Collision Replacement Parts Certification Program tests and certifies reinforcement bars, steel bumpers, step bumpers, brackets and absorbers, sheet metal parts, external vehicle lighting and exterior plastic body parts. NSF engineers independently evaluate and compare these parts to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) service parts to ensure the highest level of performance in terms of form, fit and function.
The NSF Certification process requires an on-site inspection of the manufacturer’s quality system to verify that the company has a traceability program, complaint process and an in-plant quality assurance system in place. All NSF Certified parts come with a limited lifetime guarantee.
Wendell Adamson, Assistant Vice President - Claims, at EMC Insurance Companies, supports the goals of NSF’s aftermarket parts certification program, and said, “The program will increase the availability of quality collision repair parts and provides cost effective alternatives to OEM replacement parts.”
Alternative parts usage can reduce the number of vehicles that are totaled based on part repair cost. Consumers and collision repair shops benefit from a competitive market place with affordable options for high quality collision repair parts with a limited lifetime guarantee. Collision repair shops also benefit because NSF Certified parts are tested to ensure they fit the first time, controlling time spent for repairs.
“Consumers benefit when a highly respected insurance company, such as EMC Insurance Companies, supports the NSF Collision Repair Part Certification program,” said Bob Frayer, Director of NSF International’s Automotive Collision Certification Programs and Engineering Laboratories.
