NSF Certified for Sport® mark signifies the safety and quality of Vitamin Shoppe’s True Athlete range of products

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Vitamin Shoppe, Inc. (NYSE: VSI), a leading specialty retailer and direct marketer of nutritional products, is the first retailer to earn NSF Certified for Sport® certification for a line of products with its True Athlete line of performance nutrition products.

Global public health and safety organization NSF International developed the NSF Certified for Sport® program in response to growing concerns of banned substances in sports nutrition products. Many leading sports organizations utilize the NSF Certified for Sport® program to protect athletes from prohibited substances including the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES), the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), National Hockey League (NHL), the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and the PGA.

True Athlete

To earn NSF Certified for Sport® certification, The Vitamin Shoppe’s True Athlete products underwent a rigorous testing and inspection program to verify compliance to NSF/ANSI* Standard 173, the only official accredited American National Standard for dietary supplements and ingredients. This included a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) facility audit, label claim testing/verification and a contaminant review. NSF scientists also tested The Vitamin Shoppe’s True Athlete products for over 165 athletic banned substances.

The Vitamin Shoppe developed True Athlete products to provide sports nutrition products to consumers with an active lifestyle. True Athlete products contain no artificial colors, flavors, and sweetners, and use hormone-free protein. Certified The Vitamin Shoppe True Athlete products include:

  • True Athlete Multivitamin for Men
  • True Athlete Multivitamin for Women
  • True Athlete ZMA (Zinc Monomethionine Aspartate) with Theanine
  • True Athlete Training Formula
  • True Athlete Kre-Alkalyn
  • True Athlete Natural Protein Chocolate

All of these products are listed on NSF’s website.
