The NSF International Commitment
NSF's success is grounded in its heritage, which can be traced back to its founding in 1944 when two professors from the University of Michigan and a public health official from Toledo, Ohio established the National Sanitation Foundation.

Today, this historical commitment is represented by the NSF Mark, which is recognized for its value in international trade around the world and is respected by regulatory agencies at the local, state, federal and international level.

NSF has expanded considerably to meet the growing needs of clients worldwide. NSF has earned Collaborating Centre designations by the World Health Organization (WHO) for Food and Water Safety and Indoor Environment.
