NSF in Tokyo

The Japan Gas Appliances Inspection Association (JIA) was established in 1967. Since its inception JIA has, as an objective and impartial third-party organization, been working in close collaboration with consumers' groups, academia, government, and related business sectors and conducted a comprehensive range of activities.

These include the inspection and certification of gas appliances, gas leak detectors, and fuel cells; inspection and certification of gas supply facilities prior to their use; assessment of environmental products in line with life cycle assessments (LCA); forest certification; environmental site assessment; ISO assessment and registration; examination for gas engineers; education and training of specialist gas appliance fitters; publishing; conducting projects about gas safety commissioned by governmental institutions; and addressing the issues of internationalization and work with overseas certification bodies.

NSF International opened Tokyo Liaison Office in October 1988, in JIA. NSF Tokyo Liaison Office provides the general information of NSF product certification programs and carries out factory audits for production facilities of NSF certified products in Japan as a representative of NSF International.
