NSF Certifies First Piping Product to American National Standard for Geothermal Heat Pump Systems

NSF International, an independent global organization that writes standards, and tests and certifies products for the water, food, health sciences and consumer goods industries, has certified Centennial Plastics, Inc.’s CenFuse geothermal pipes to the American National Standard for Ground-Source Geothermal Piping Systems – NSF/ANSI Standard 358-1: Polyethylene Pipe and Fittings for Water-Based Ground-Source "Geothermal" Heat Pump Systems. Centennial Plastics is the first company to earn certification to this standard, providing engineers, regulators and users assurance that its certified geothermal products meet minimum performance and safety requirements. > Read More

EPA’s Model Program for Onsite Wastewater Systems Incorporates NSF’s Wastewater Standards

To further protect surface and ground water quality, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published a model program for onsite wastewater treatment systems in the Chesapeake Bay watershed to help states reduce excessive nutrients, such as nitrogen, from entering the Bay from onsite or septic systems. NSF International’s Wastewater Standards are referenced in the EPA model program as a basis to evaluate treatment technologies intended to help protect human health and the environment from inadequately treated wastewater. > Read More

NSF International’s Applied Research Center (ARC), which conducts original research and development projects for academia, industry, and regulatory bodies to further public health and safety, has released the 2013 NSF International Household Germ Study, revealing that many common kitchen items harbor unsafe levels of E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, yeast and mold. > Read More

NSF International, a global independent public health organization that writes standards, and tests and certifies products for the health sciences, water, food, and consumer goods industries, has named Bradford Williams as Technical Manager of NSF International’s Dietary Supplement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Facility Registration Program. Williams has more than 30 years of experience with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-regulated industries, eight of which include serving as manager of the FDA GMP program for dietary supplements. > Read More

NSF International and BIFMA Release New Product Category Rule (PCR) for Office Storage Products

NSF International, a global public health organization, and the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA) have released a new Product Category Rule (PCR) for office storage products. The PCR defines the science-based and internationally recognized method for reporting the environmental impact of office storage products such as casegoods, files, cabinets and other related products throughout their entire life cycle. > Read More

Vincent J. Radke Earns 2013 Walter F. Snyder Environmental Health Award

NSF International and the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) are pleased to announce that Vincent J. Radke, MPH, RS, CP-FS, DAAS, CPH, is the 2013 recipient of the distinguished Walter F. Snyder Environmental Health Award. Mr. Radke will receive the award on Tuesday, July 9 at the NEHA Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. for over four decades of significant and lasting contributions to public and environmental health at the international, federal, state and local levels. > Read More
