SHANGHAI – Global public health organization NSF International has appointed Mr. Gregory Brown to Managing Director of NSF China, adding to his responsibilities as Global Managing Director for Seafood.  Mr. Brown will help NSF International grow its  testing, auditing, certification, training and consulting programs, which currently serve more than 6,200 international and local businesses and facilities in China in the areas of food safety and quality, seafood and fishmeal, dietary supplements, consumer products  and water distribution and treatment products.

As Managing Director of NSF China, Mr. Brown will continue to work in close cooperation with NSF Shanghai Co., Ltd. joint venture partners and expand business relations with international and local authorities and regulators.   Mr. Brown is responsible for NSF Shanghai Co., Ltd. and NSF Shanghai Testing Technology Company (NSF’s ISO/IEC-17025 accredited laboratory), which serve as the center of NSF’s China operations. Along with expanding the seafood program in China, Brown will help to grow the food processing and retail auditing, water distribution and treatment, food equipment, consumer products and dietary supplement programs.

As Global Managing Director of NSF International Seafood Programs, Mr. Brown has developed NSF’s seafood strategy, expanded the global seafood program for import/export traders and enhanced Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification as well as NSF’s global fishmeal program. He oversees NSF Seafood’s offices and laboratories in key global locations including Seattle, Washington; Dutch Harbor, Alaska; Shanghai, China; Busan, South Korea; Delhi, India; Bangkok, Thailand; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; and Lima, Peru.  NSF provides local testing for DNA species identification, fishmeal testing, and chemical and microbiological evaluations, and helps seafood companies comply with the upcoming regulatory requirements of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

Mr. Brown lived in Singapore for 15 years and now resides in Shanghai, China. He is fluent in English, French and Spanish and earned a bachelor’s degree in diplomacy and world affairs from Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. His credentials also include HACCP Train the Trainer certification, seafood sensory training from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Shrimp School certification from the University of Florida.
