Nitrate in Drinking Water
Nitrates are a naturally occurring chemical that can be found in both public and private water supplies. Although nitrates are sometimes the result of decomposition of plants, improperly handled human and animal waste can also cause nitrates to leach into a groundwater supply. If present at excessive levels in a home’s drinking water supply, nitrates can cause serious health issues for infants and pregnant women.
