Appointment will help retailers and manufacturers meet quality standards, product regulations and consumer expectations

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — NSF International, a global independent public health organization that writes standards, and tests and certifies products for the consumer goods, health sciences, food and water industries, has appointed Alan Perlman as Business Development Director – Private Label (Store Brands) and Consumer Home Products Division.

Perlman has more than 30 years of experience in the areas of consumer product quality, testing and technical evaluation, especially as it pertains to private label (store) and retail brands. This experience includes developing consumer product specifications and technical guidance, testing protocols, and national brand comparison evaluations to help ensure the quality and safety of both store and national consumer brands. Perlman’s expertise helps retailers and manufacturers alike meet quality standards, product regulations and consumer expectations.

As Director of Business Development for NSF International’s Private Label and Consumer Home Products Divisions, Perlman will leverage his extensive technical and retail expertise to expand NSF’s consumer products services. These services include the NSF Private Label Assurance Program, which verifies that private label products meet quality standards and regulations or are comparable to national brands, as well as the NSF Home Product Certification Program. Building on NSF’s expertise in standards development, testing and certification, the latter program offers product testing and certification, specification development and audits to help ensure the safety and quality of products used in the home, including small kitchen appliances, cookware, bakeware and other kitchen items.

Perlman most recently served as Technical Director at Rockline Industries where he focused on quality, technical, regulatory and consumer issues for store brand retailers and global manufacturing sites. He also led the development of quality store brand programs while at Shuster, Inc. A frequent panelist at technical conferences and tradeshows focused on store brands and retail products, he is a member of the QAA (Quality Assurance Association). He holds a bachelor’s degree in food science from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
