EyeSucceed, a Glass Partner and wholly-owned subsidiary of NSF International, was recognized for bringing innovation to the food industry with its smartglass wearable technology

ZAVENTEM, Belgium – EyeSucceed, a Glass Partner and wholly-owned subsidiary of NSF International, has been recognized for its innovative design and technology by HOSTMilano, an Italian trade fair organization. Of the 217 companies that applied, NSF International was one of six to win the Innovation SMART Label. The award recognizes products and solutions with a high level of innovation that seek to break with and move beyond established trends in the industry.

EyeSucceed leverages NSF International’s 75-year expertise in the food industry. In 2014, EyeSucceed started with the goal of using technology to solve the substantial and specific challenges faced by food industry companies. Working directly with Google’s Glass1 team and foodservice operations on the Google campus in the U.S., EyeSucceed has been piloting food industry applications of Glass, including foodservice worker training and remote food safety and quality audits, since February 2015.

“We are pleased to be recognized for our innovative technology,” said Sarah Krol, NSF International’s Sr. Global Managing Director of Food Safety Product Certification. “EyeSucceed is combining the power of augmented intelligence with wearable technology and transforming the global food industry. We are the industry’s augmented reality and smartglass technology expert, working with clients in foodservice, retail and the supply chain.”

The technology not only addresses food industry challenges like high labor costs, food safety, employee turnover and training; it also drives efficient, consistent and high-quality results in the food sector. EyeSucceed can be used throughout the supply chain – at the farming, food processing and retail/restaurant levels – for a variety of functions including training, remote assistance, management operations tools and more efficient equipment operations.

EyeSucceed provides a one-of-a-kind, hands-free training module. Glass is worn by the user like a pair of eye glasses and an optical display located in the user’s field of vision displays training content. Users navigate through the step-by-step instructions using voice commands or a scroll pad embedded in the side frame. Employee actions, including time between steps, deviation from correct procedures and corrective actions, can be uploaded into the cloud. Once the data is collected, it can be analyzed to identify efficiencies and process improvements.

Food equipment cleaning, maintenance and troubleshooting in the foodservice, catering and hospitality markets might occasionally be perceived to be complex and cumbersome. Use of EyeSucceed smartglass solutions breaks with and moves beyond the traditional approach.

The assisted reality solution empowers employees to interact hands-free with the equipment – at the workstation and supported in real time. EyeSucceed works directly with food equipment manufacturers to incorporate capabilities such as troubleshooting, technical support and training for assembly and cleaning of equipment.

The SMART Label, which is awarded biennially, is organized by the Italian trade fair organization HOSTMilano in collaboration with POLI.design. An independent jury consisting of representatives from design schools, academies, universities and industry experts carefully evaluated the applications in three different categories. The award, in particular in the innovation category, encourages companies in the catering and hospitality industry to demonstrate the importance of next-generation interactive technologies that also increase profitability and competitiveness for the businesses.

The products that received the 2019 award will be on display in a dedicated pavilion during the next edition of HOST from 18 to 22 October 2019 in Milan, Italy. EyeSucceed will also be on display and demonstrated at the NSF International booth at pavilion 6, stand A02.
