Healing brings more than 30 years’ experience developing transformative food quality and sustainability programs for major food companies

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – NSF International, a global public health organization, has appointed Jackie Healing as Director of Consulting and Technical Services for the United Kingdom-based operations of its Global Food Division. In her new role, Healing will lead NSF International’s team of UK expert consultants to help food companies protect and enhance their brands through a suite of pre-certification, supply chain, risk and crisis management consulting and technical services.

Healing has a reputation for engineering food quality and sustainability programs for major retailers as well as large-scale livestock, aquaculture and agriculture production systems. Her work over the past 30 years has helped establish food safety, quality, sustainability and animal welfare requirements that are more protective of both company reputation and public health.

“The addition of Jackie Healing as the Director of Consulting and Technical Services for the UK-based operations of the Global Food Division underscores the rising need for experienced food safety experts in helping food companies manage a growing number of regulatory requirements, complex operations and supply chains,” said Tom Chestnut, Senior Vice President of NSF International’s Global Food Division. “Our clients can now tap into Jackie’s experience leading transformative food safety and quality programs to protect their brands and manage risks unique to their supply chains and business.”

While working in the UK, USA and Australia, Healing led several responsible sourcing programs including the development of a living wage program for food production in developing countries, the introduction of a meal provision and enhanced nutrition awareness campaign in Cambodia and the move of poultry, pigs and egg production to models with lower confinement.

Among her most recent achievements is the development of a technical and responsible sourcing program for Coles Supermarkets in Australia. This program brought effective quality, sustainability and animal welfare requirements to Coles’ global supplier network, evaluated the sourcing practices of more than 500 seafood operations and helped position the retailer as a global leader in quality and sourcing practices.

Healing previously served as President of the Sustainable Agriculture initiative in Australia and has spoken globally on risk mitigation for food and non-food manufacturing and retail. Her blend of science and commerciality has helped many businesses transform their offer to include less risk and greater customer focus, which contributed to sales growth and profitability.
