ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Yvonne Anding, Senior Lead Auditor at global public health organization NSF International, has been recognized as the Food Safety Americas 2016 British Retail Consortium (BRC) Auditor of the Year for her ongoing and dedicated support to the BRC Global Standards program for food safety.

The BRC Food Safety Americas Award recognizes outstanding commitment, support and performance of individuals who contribute to the development of the food safety industry in the Americas. The BRC scheme guarantees the standardization of quality, safety and operation criteria, and helps ensure that manufacturers fulfill their legal obligations and provide protection for consumers. Anding received the award on April 6, 2016 at the Food Safety Americas conference.

Anding was awarded the BRC Auditor of the Year by demonstrating her commitment through improved audits and continuous improvements within the industry, and for her work with NSF International to drive food safety and quality. She was also recognized for her commitment to the improvement of food safety, and her work with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) to assist the growth of the BRC scheme. Some examples of her commitment and dedication include:

  • Working with more than 100 dairies teaching high-care and high-risk principles against the requirements of the BRC Standard
  • Conducting 16 hours of presentations with the Milk Marketing Board to discuss high risk and high care in the dairy industry to attendees from six U.S. states
  • Spending more than 120 hours developing and training others in food safety and BRC standards
  • Meeting with more than 100 clients from various dairy industries to discuss the BRC and other GFSI schemes to assist in developing food safety and quality systems
  • Performing witness audits and sign-off audits of new auditors and mentoring all new BRC auditors

Anding joined NSF International as a BRC auditor in 2009. In 2012, she was promoted to Senior Lead Auditor where she manages the BRC scheme and other auditors. She has a bachelor’s degree in food science from the University of California, San Francisco.
