While many specifiers in the United States reference codes like the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and the International Plumbing Code (IPC), Canada has its own requirements and reference standards; it also has different national and provincial plumbing codes.

With different codes, reference standards and certification organizations, it can be unclear which plumbing products are certified and accepted for use in Canada.
