In addition to certifying gaskets and gasket materials under NSF/ANSI/CAN 61, NSF International also provides certification of facilities that repackage, cut and distribute NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 certified gaskets.

This certification demonstrates that a gasket fabricator, repackager and/or cutter is committed to proving the quality and safety of its product throughout the supply chain. Those who pursue certification agree to annual monitoring by NSF and transparency into all aspects of their product processing, giving them differentiation in the competitive marketplace.

Benefits of Certification

Market leaders strive to attain NSF certification as a mark of distinction, providing their customers with assurance the product they manufacture, cut and/or repackage is safe for use in drinking water.

NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 testing covers all products with drinking water contact from source to tap, and determines what contaminants may migrate or leach from your product into drinking water. It also confirms if they are below the maximum levels allowed to be considered safe.

Certification Process

We distinguish ourselves due to our thorough product evaluation, but our certification process is straightforward and efficient. We assign you a dedicated NSF account manager as a single point of contact to guide you through the certification process and oversee your certification project every step of the way.

In order to obtain this certification, a company must submit an application that includes the following information:

  • Identification of the materials that will be fabricated, repackaged or cut
  • Identification of any additional chemicals/materials used to keep the gaskets from sticking together
  • Identification of the facility or facilities for which certification is being requested

NSF will review all relevant information and verify that the certification of the base material is no less stringent than the requested listing of the fabricated, repackaged or cut gaskets. Testing may be required if the facility is using additional chemicals or materials in their processes.
