If you manufacture equipment, components or chemicals used in pools, spas, splash pads or other aquatic venues in North America, your products are required to comply with NSF/ANSI 50: Equipment for Swimming Pools, Spas, Hot Tubs and Other Recreational Water Facilities by most state agencies. Developed by a team of scientists, industry experts and key industry stakeholders, NSF/ANSI 50 sets health effects criteria, operational safety and performance verification for many recreational water products including:

  • Automatic controllers
  • Chemicals
  • Chemical generators and feeders
  • Filters (DE, sand, cartridge)
  • Flow meters
  • Pool alarms
  • Pumps and strainers
  • Ozone generators
  • Suction fittings and main drains
  • UV systems
  • Valves
  • Water quality test devices
  • And more

Benefits of Certification

Certification to NSF/ANSI 50 ensures that your product meets regulatory requirements for the U.S. and Canada. Market leaders strive to attain NSF certification as a mark of distinction that provides their customers with assurance that their product is safe for use in recreational water applications.

NSF/ANSI 50 covers all products used in an aquatic facility, not just the chemicals or circulation equipment, to verify their performance and safety. We offer programs and services that support facility operators, legislators and regulators in their efforts to help increase safety and enjoyment for pool, spa and recreational water users.

Certification also allows your company to:

  • List your product in our online directory of certified recreational water facility products
  • Use the NSF certification mark on your products and in your promotional materials

Certification Process

We distinguish ourselves due to our thorough product evaluation, but our certification process is simple and efficient. We assign you a dedicated NSF account manager as a single point of contact to guide you through the certification process and oversee your certification project every step of the way.

Seven Simple Steps to Certification:

  1. Your company submits an application.
  2. You provide product formulation, performance and product use information.
  3. Our technical department reviews product information.
  4. We perform a plant audit and sample collection.
  5. Our laboratory conducts testing.
  6. We complete a final health, safety and performance evaluation.
  7. We grant NSF certification for compliant products and you can use the NSF mark on products, packaging and marketing materials.

Our experts can help you reduce overall costs and expedite your time to market by bundling services and reducing the number of contracted service providers and facility audits.
