NSF International’s Applied Research Center has dedicated resources focused on supporting bioanalytical research. Supporting the academic research community and business research sectors, we help researchers from the initial stages of study planning through execution and publication.

For researchers theorizing about exposure in relation to specific diseases or conditions, we can provide custom method development to complete analyses. Utilizing techniques including liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), our analysis panels cover multiple biological matrices.

Existing Panels

Utilizing liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) techniques, we can validate analysis panels for many classes of chemical metabolites in several biological matrices, including:

  • Metals scans using ICP-MS for over 20 elements, including arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury
  • Phenols and parabens panel, including bisphenol A (BPA), using LC-MS
  • Phthalates panel using LC-MS to analyze samples for multiple plasticizer metabolites
  • Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) panel using LC-MS covering more than eight monohydroxylated metabolites
  • Polyfluorinated compounds (PFCs) panel using LC-MS
  • Smoking biomarkers panel using LC-MS covering analytes including hydroxycotinine, cotinine and nicotine

With NSF’s laboratory expertise, we are also able to complete new method development for additional classes of chemical metabolites and/or expand an existing panel for specific chemical compounds as researcher needs require.
