NSF Acquires UK-based InS Services

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - NSF today announced the acquisition of InS Services, a UK-based registrar of lubricants, greases and other nonfood compounds approved for use during food and beverage processing. Products currently registered by InS Services will be listed in the NSF White Book™ (NSF’s online listing of registered nonfood compounds and proprietary substances) in 2020.

“For the last 11 years, InS Services has been proud to provide fast web-based registration of these compounds to H1 and associated standards,” said Colin Cross, Co-Founder and Owner of InS Services. “As a recognized leader in the field, NSF has the knowledge and infrastructure to continue our work with the lubricants and chemical industry.”

In 1999, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) selected NSF to continue its Registration and Listing Program for Proprietary Substances and Nonfood Compounds. Today, lubricants, water treatment products, cleaners and other compounds that meet the relevant food safety standards are listed in the NSF White Book, which is internationally used and recognized by product manufacturers, food processors and regulators.

“We have served the food processing chemical products industry for 20 years and we are committed to successfully integrating InS-registered products into the NSF White Book,” said Sarah Krol, Global Managing Director of Food Safety Product Certification at NSF. “This acquisition demonstrates NSF’s commitment to food safety and raising awareness about the importance of these products.”
