NSF’s registration marks are recognised worldwide and are often the only marks accepted by food and beverage companies. Using registered products supports Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans as well as compliance to GFSI certification programs.
Demonstrate your food-grade lubricants follow food safety schemes adopted by regulatory agencies around the world. An H1 registration from NSF verifies that your product is suitable to use in applications where incidental contact could occur between the lubricant and food during normal operations.
Registrations evaluate chemical risks by reviewing product formulations and labels. In addition to H1 food-grade lubricants, we also register:
- H2 lubricants (industrial grade)
- H3 lubricants (soluble oils)
- HT-1 heat transfer fluids (incidental food contact allowed)
- HT-2 heat transfer fluids (no food contact allowed)
- U1 metal working fluids (surface lubricants used in the manufacture of metallic articles)
- U2 metal working fluids (cutting oils)
ISO 21469 Certification
NSF lists online all ISO 21469 products we certify. This makes finding certified lubricants easier for food and beverage processors as well as decision makers in other industries that accept ISO 21469, such as pharmaceutical, cosmetics and animal feed manufacturing.
ISO 21469 certifications are an upgrade to H1 registrations. Both H1 and ISO 21469 address chemical safety; however, ISO 21469 also reviews physical and biological risks associated with the manufacture of a lubricant. The certification process includes plant audits, facility risk assessments and product testing.
