Spring is a time of revitalization and renewal. Many of us are making it a priority to focus on our health, and we’re adding vitamins and dietary supplements to our exercise and wellness programs. These supplements can have plenty of health benefits, like building strength and helping us reach peak performance, and they can be chock-full of good nutrients, like iron, calcium and magnesium, which are essential to healthy living.
Heavy metals are found in plants, water, and the minerals we mine and use in food additives, such as salt and calcium. They’re hard to avoid entirely, but high levels can be harmful, so it’s essential to steer clear of them when you can.
But be careful. Some supplements may include dangerous heavy metals, such as mercury, lead, aluminum and cadmium. Even arsenic is sometimes referred to as a heavy metal.
