Experts From Danone and MegaFood Join NSF in Regenerative Agriculture Webinar

In this webinar, we bring together internal experts and industry guests to explain how to advance climate and sustainability goals by using a responsible sourcing strategy that promotes regenerative agriculture.

The webinar is designed to educate and inspire practitioners of responsible sourcing programs to promote regenerative agriculture in their supply chains.

What Is Regenerative Agriculture?

We are in the early days of an evolving movement with different definitions, and there is much development ahead. Broadly speaking, regenerative agriculture is a powerful tool to reach climate and sustainability goals that can be promoted through a responsible sourcing strategy. This webinar provides an overview of regenerative sourcing standards and methods for measuring impact.

Sara Newmark, Vice President of Social Impact, MegaFood

Sara Newmark is VP of Social Impact for MegaFood. Leading the development of MegaFood’s social responsibility and environmental sustainability efforts, Sara ensures that the company's day-to-day business practices and decision-making support MegaFood’s mission to nourish a world in nutritional crisis. She ensures that MegaFood’s actions inspire a revolution that transforms “agri-culture” by empowering communities, revolutionizing food systems and committing to radical transparency. Sara sits on many boards including Green America, the Coalition for Supplement Sustainability and Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility.

Tina Owens, Senior Director, Agriculture, Danone North America

Tina Owens is Sr. Director, Agriculture for Danone North America and has worked in supply chain for 18 years, holding an MBA from Spring Arbor University in Michigan. In 2018, she joined Danone where she oversees work on soil health and embedding regenerative agriculture practices in the dairy supply chain.

Prior to Danone, Tina led sustainability and strategic sourcing at Kashi Company including the brands Bear Naked, Stretch Island Fruit Company and Pure Organics. During her tenure at Kashi Tina led the charge on six commodities to convert farmers to organic practices via a collaborative effort with QAI known as the Certified Transitional protocol. Under Tina’s leadership, this ground-breaking protocol helped convert over 7,000 U.S. acres to organic while returning close to $2MM in additional profit to Kashi farmers.

Nova Sayers, Senior Manager, Business Development, Food & Sustainability, NSF

Nova helps food, textile and agriculture companies deliver better products and impacts on health, society and the environment – while reducing risk and increasing revenue and brand value. In her current role she connects companies to NSF’s resources for analysis, design and implementation of sustainability and responsible sourcing programs, and leads industry engagement for regenerative agriculture. Her expertise spans product claims, verification and innovative standards development, having launched many programs including plant-based, non-GMO and transitional and authenticity certifications. Nova also engages with associations and industry initiatives for health and sustainability, including the Sustainable Food Trade Association, The Sustainability Consortium and a farm grant fund called Cultivating Change.
