Michael Conrad has nearly 15 years of experience in research and technical roles in the water industry.

Currently, he is responsible for the research and development arm of NSF’s residential water program, directing internal and client R&D projects. He also lends his technical expertise to certification projects using knowledge gained from his previous role as the manager of NSF’s plastic performance lab. The ISO 17025-accredited laboratory delivers pressure testing, chemical exposure testing, chemical analysis testing and failure analysis services.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Conrad held various positions at Jana Laboratories, most recently as a Technical Team Leader managing an engineering team and processes to ensure quality testing. Earlier, he served as a research scientist working in chlorine resistance certification testing, hydrostatic pressure testing of fittings and valves, electron irradiation of polyethylene, and consulting on natural gas and potable water applications.

Dr. Conrad serves on ASTM and CSA technical committees to develop standards for testing and plastic piping products. He is a Professional Engineer and holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Toronto.
