Course Overview

NSF International and the National Environmental Health Association will bring together professionals from a wide variety of industries, including health care, to discuss the growing concern of Legionella outbreaks at the third annual Legionella Conference, to be held in January 2021 in Chicago, Illinois. The 2021 Legionella Conference theme, Prevention of Disease and Injury From Waterborne Pathogens in Health Care, centers on how hospitals, water utilities, health departments, industry and regulators can work together to identify best practices for prevention of disease in hospitals, long-term care centers and skilled nursing homes.

Important topics include preventing health care-associated waterborne disease outbreaks; infection prevention in sterile processing; sampling strategies; lessons learned from conducting invetigations (surveillance and reporting); reducing energy and water demand while mananging waterborne disease risks; design, commissioning, construction and renovations; regulatory frameworks for managing waterborne disease risks in building water systems,; case studies regarding use of treatment and processing technologies and litigation, liability and insurance underwriting trends.

The conference will include panel discussions, technical workshops, case study reviews and new technology reviews.
