Course Overview

This one-day course is designed for manufacturers of drinking water system components and regulators responsible for product approvals, to learn the design, formulation, and marking requirements for drinking water system components and the NSF certification policies that govern product listings to this standard.


Course participants will learn:

  • Regulatory requirements for NSF 61
  • Standards maintenance process
  • The full NSF 61 Certification process including:
    • Formation review and toxicological evaluation requirements
    • Test protocols for each product category
    • Test result normalization
    • Interpreting NSF test reports
    • Audit requirements
    • Annual maintenance of certification
  • Lead-Free requirements of the US Safe Driving Water Act, and lead content verification under NSF 372
  • Options for failed products
