Ensure your supply chain’s integrity with this cost-effective, remote service to evaluate your program or assess suppliers, ensuring compliance and quality from anywhere.

Ensuring quality and compliance from anywhere

In today’s global marketplace, maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance across your supply chain is more critical than ever. NSF’s supplier assurance remote desk audit service offers a comprehensive solution that can be used by your company to ensure your own processes meet stringent requirements or to assess your suppliers, no matter where they are located.

What is a remote desk audit?

A remote desk audit is a thorough evaluation of your supplier’s programs, policies, and procedures, conducted entirely online. This innovative, cost-effective approach allows for flexibility and efficiency and is a valuable tool to help facilities understand where additional work is needed on their documented systems, prior to undergoing an on-site audit visit. This can reduce the potential for audits failing on-site and the subsequent requirement for additional on-site visits.

Unlock the full potential of your supply chain

Our remote desk audit service is designed to help small and medium-sized companies prepare for on-site audits through a virtually conducted gap analysis session that reviews documentation that supports the food safety and quality management system. This service is also beneficial for retailers and large manufacturers who want an alternative option to an onsite audit in assessing the food safety and quality programs of their suppliers.

By leveraging virtual collaboration tools, this assessment allows facilities to see and understand where there may be gaps in the product safety and quality program areas at the site, and complete corrective actions to address those gaps prior to moving on to the on-site audit visit.

Businesses in the food supply chain, including food manufacturers, ingredients manufacturers, food packaging companies, storage facilities, and distributors, as well as those preparing for HACCP certifications, can greatly benefit from this service.

This assessment is geared primarily to facilities that will ultimately proceed to another HACCP-based, or food safety plan, or management system focused audit program.

Service options

Stand-alone version: Request a remote desk audit to verify your programs, policies and procedures, and plan for the next steps in your food safety program.

Remote desk audit + on-site supplier assurance audit: verify your preparedness for a full on-site audit with a remote desk audit, followed by an on-site supplier assurance audit after you and your team complete corrective actions to close out non-conformances.

How it works

This unscored document review targets program, policy, and procedure requirements that are standard components of the NSF supplier assurance proprietary audit standards, and that are often overlooked and/or misinterpreted by facilities prior to an on-site audit.

  1. Opening meeting: We begin with a meeting to introduce the team, discuss the scope of the assessment and answer any questions that you have.
  2. Document review: Our experts review your documentation to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  3. Virtual interviews: Conduct virtual interviews with key personnel to gain insights into their processes and practices.
  4. Closing meeting: Bring the team back together as a whole to discuss findings observed during the assessment day and talk about the steps that will occur in the post assessment period.
  5. Report: Receive a comprehensive report detailing the findings of the assessment in order that the facility team can take further action to close those nonconformance gaps. .

The audit is fully remote, utilizing shared screens and secure file transfers. Our auditors will guide you through each step, ensuring a smooth and thorough evaluation.

Please note that certificates and/or statements of completed audit or statements of commitment are not issued after this remote assessment. The assessment is designed to be an unscored step towards future on-site, scored audit activities.
