Guide to NSF Electrical Certification Marks

The NSF certification mark is your assurance that the product has been tested and certified by one of the most respected Nationally Recognized Test Laboratories (NRTLs) in existence today. The mark is recognized and valued by consumers, manufacturers, retailers and regulatory agencies worldwide.

Reference the below guidelines for NSF’s electrical and fire safety certification marks.

Certification Mark Appearance Guidelines

Color

The NSF electrical marks below may be reproduced in black, blue, white/reverse or text-only. These marks all have equal meaning. The different colors or text variations may be used to accommodate the background color the mark is being printed on or the design software being used.

Electrical Mark Types

The standard designation must appear near the mark, so it’s clear which standard(s) the product is certified to. It can appear within the box under the mark or on the data plate. Also, electrical conduit products may appear with either “Electrical” or “NRTL” written before the standard designation. Any approved color of the mark (as shown above) is appropriate, but these products are most commonly produced with the text mark.

NSF Electrical Field Evaluation Labels

Product certification or component recognition is not always an option, like in the cases of custom installations or one-off designs. In those instances, a field evaluation may be a suitable alternative to show compliance to the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). In addition to the NSF Field Evaluation Label, a report detailing the evaluation and inspection of the product is provided. NSF Electrical Field Evaluation Labels are only applied by an NSF representative directly onto the investigated product.

Note: These labels are not certification marks.
