Code of Ethics
The NSF Code of Ethics outlines our unwavering commitment to our clients, vendors, and other stakeholders, including the public in upholding the highest standards when it comes to business ethics, scientific and personal integrity, compliance with laws, treating others with respect and an inclusive mindset, and the other important topics addressed in the Code.
What A Responsible Company Means to Me — President & CEO Kevan Lawlor
I know each of you shares with me a deep sense of pride in NSF International’s mission to protect and improve human health, and like me, you are dedicated to achieving this mission. Our global reach, our vast subject matter expertise, our longstanding leadership in standards setting, and our many talented team members are important components of our organisation. But the most critical component, and the key to our future, is our steadfast adherence to ethics and integrity.
The NSF Code of Ethics outlines our commitment to each other, our clients, vendors, and other stakeholders, including the public, to uphold the highest standards when it comes to ethics and integrity. I am counting on each of you to take the time to read and understand each section of the Code, to ask questions if you need explanations, and to comply at all times with the principles, policies, and procedures described. The NSF Board of Directors and I hold ourselves to the same requirement.
Although each of us is responsible for complying with all sections of the Code, its true essence can be summed up in a simple (but not easy) commitment:
Do the Right Thing
Of course, in order for us to show our true fidelity to this commitment, we must all be willing to speak up if we see behaviour that is not right. Speaking up isn’t always easy, but it is the only choice we have if we are to ensure our organisation remains headed in the right direction—toward accomplishing our important mission. NSF will not permit retaliation against anyone who takes this important step.
Thank you for your devotion to NSF, to our fellow colleagues, our valued clients, and the public. And thank you for your personal commitment to doing the right thing so NSF and its critical mission can live on for another 75 years, and more.
Kevan P. Lawlor
President & Chief Executive Officer
