
Carey Allen
As Director of Food Claims, Carey Allen leads food label and packaging claims programmes globally, including NSF Gluten-Free, Non-GMO Project Verified and other certifications, as well as the Quality Assurance International (QAI) organic certification division of NSF. Her teams vet products against required standards, providing assurance to consumers and manufacturers.
Following 10 years in the food industry, Allen joined NSF in 2011, progressing to leadership roles in technical compliance and food safety certification operations. Allen was Vice President of Food and Agriculture with SCS Global Services and Vice President of Business Development and Strategy with SQFI. Allen returned to NSF in 2025 to direct the Food Claims business unit and apply expertise gained through her foundation in food safety and integrity in developing strategic solutions for risk management, market development and product innovation, fulfilling consumer demand for value and transparency.
Allen holds a Bachelor of Science in Food Science from the University of Idaho, a Master of Science in Food Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Science in Management, Strategy and Leadership from Michigan State University.
