Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS)
The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) provides public information on the standards of food hygiene in businesses where consumers shop or consume food. Ratings are a snapshot of the food hygiene standards found at the time of inspection. The scheme covers restaurants, pubs, cafés, takeaways, hotels, hospitals, schools and other places people eat away from home, as well as supermarkets and other food shops.
Many people use the ratings when choosing where to eat, helping to drive improvements to hygiene standards in food businesses. Display of the rating on the premises or online is mandatory in Wales and Northern Ireland and is likely to become mandatory in England, as well.
If you are a food business looking to improve your FHRS score, we’re ready to help.
Through consulting, training, coaching and policy and systems support, we achieve a 98% success rate for improving FHRS scores with 95% of clients scoring 3 or above.
Nearly half of our current compliance audits already include an FHRS-benchmarked assessment, allowing you to predict your score levels.
Our visits can include coaching and advisory elements, which have been proven to raise scores consistently to achieve target standards across large multi-site operations.
