NSF to Host its Inaugural Information Security Symposium: Compliance vs. Attack

NSF will bring together world-class experts in data security to share valuable lessons learned to dramatically reduce cyber-attack risk.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – On January 19, 2022, NSF will host its inaugural Information Security Symposium: Compliance vs. Attack to discuss best practices needed to protect your organization from evolving threats. The cybersecurity attacks that have occurred in the past year have shown us that information security is a public health concern, and no industry is immune. Join world-class experts in data security at this premiere virtual event as they share the valuable lessons learned on the importance of creating a culture of compliance within organizations.

“This symposium will explore one of the most obvious truths of the modern age, either instill a culture of data security compliance or face an endless barrage of cyber attacks,” said Jen Morecraft, Senior Director of NSF International Strategic Registrations (NSF-ISR). “Whether you are an industry titan or a small business, if your organization values information security and you have been following the recent surge in ransomware demands, this is your event.”

Some featured speakers include:

  • Jamil Farshchi, Chief Information Security Officer at Equifax.
  • Jeff Dalton, Chairman, CMMC Accreditation Body.
  • Barry Yuan, Security Technical Solutions Architect at Cisco.
  • John Strand, CEO, Black Hills Information Security.
  • Ashlee Breitner, Managing Director, University of Michigan - Economic Growth Institute.
  • V. Amira Armond, President, Kieri Solutions.
  • Lesley Ma, Vice President, Chief Information Officer (CIO), NSF.
  • Tony Giles, Director of Information Security, NSF-ISR.
  • Rhia Dancel, Information Security Compliance Architect, NSF-ISR.
  • Haley Glass, Digital Account Executive, NSF-ISR.

As threats evolve, new strategies and solutions can help protect organizations and lay foundations that give them the ability to not only respond to these threats but prevent them before they ever happen. Cybersecurity is no longer the sole responsibility or domain of the CIO. Implementing the proper infrastructure, hardware, and firewall is critical, but not enough; companies must establish a culture that is aware and engaged in cybersecurity.

The virtual format leverages a fully interactive, highly engaging platform and will offer keynote addresses, panel discussions and more. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with conference speakers and other attendees in a social event after the main sessions have concluded.
