Standards Updates: NSF/ANSI/CAN 372-2022 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 61-2022

The 2022 editions of NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 have recently been published. These versions contain the changes below, which are effective immediately.

New versions of NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 have been published. Unless otherwise noted, all changes have been implemented immediately by NSF.

NSF/ANSI/CAN 372

The 2022 version of NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 includes the following changes:

Issue 6

Clarification of the requirements for lower lead content parts was added to Section 7.1.

NSF/ANSI/CAN 61

The 2022 version of NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 includes the following changes:

Issue 160

Clarification on Q statistic testing for non-lead-containing materials.

Issue 161

Six brass rod alloys were added to the list of acceptable materials for Section 9 lead leaching under Annex N-2.

Issue 162

Sections 9.1 and 9.1.2 were updated for clarity. Section 9.1 was updated to make it clear that in-line devices are to be excluded from Section 9 (Mechanical Plumbing Devices); however, in-line devices are covered under Section 8 (Mechanical Devices). Section 9.1.2 was revised to clarify that certain endpoint devices (bath and shower valves, shower heads, Roman tub valves, drains, etc.) will not be covered under the other sections of NSF/ANSI/CAN 61.

Issue 163

New requirements for the evaluation of well-packing media were added in Section 7.
