Coway Earns NSF-JWPA P508 Certification for its Water Purifier, CHP-264L

The certification confirms that the product meets the strict requirements of the protocol.

Seoul, Korea – NSF, a leading public health and safety organization, announced today that Coway, a Korea-based home appliance manufacturer, has received NSF-JWPA P508 certification for its Water Purifier, CHP-264L. Coway is the first company in Korea to be certified to NSF-JWPA P508.

NSF-JWPA P508 is a new protocol that is similar to the globally respected NSF/ANSI 53 and NSF/ANSI 401 standards that cover carbon media-based systems. The protocol evaluates the performance of point-of-use (POU) systems in areas with low water pressure. Earning certification means that the product has been evaluated by a third-party using science-based methodologies and meets the strict requirements of the protocol. This gives consumers confidence when choosing drinking water treatment units.

“Consumer satisfaction is Coway’s top priority and earning NSF-JWPA P508 certification adds credibility to our Water Purifier CHP-264L,” said Chan Jung Park, CTO of Coway R&D Center. “The NSF mark is valued by consumers, manufacturers and dealers, and its authority is significant in the water industry. We are proud to have earned this certification, knowing that the NSF mark offers consumers confidence that products have been evaluated for proper function.”

To earn NSF-JWPA P508 certification, products undergo rigorous testing for the safety of materials in contact with drinking water and contaminant reduction performance, as well as technical review by NSF to verify it meets the requirements of this protocol. Additionally, NSF audits the company’s manufacturing facility to verify compliance to the protocol’s requirements.

“We launched NSF-JWPA P508 this year and are proud to certify our first customer in Korea, “said Rick Andrew, Senior Director of Global Business Development, Water System. “With the NSF-JWPA P508 protocol, consumers can be confident in certified products, knowing that they have been tested for proper function and use in low water pressure areas.”
