NSF Announces First Companies in India To Register With New HACCP Verified Compliance Program
New Delhi, India – NSF has registered the first two companies to its HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) Verification Program in India. Bharat Overseas and LL Manufacturing LLP, both of which are food equipment manufacturers based in India, have verified that their equipment is compliant with food safety best practices and requirements.
“NSF is valued by consumers, retailers, manufacturers, and regulatory agencies worldwide, and with the HCV India mark we can demonstrate that the food safety aspects and hygienic quality of our products have been independently verified,” said Chaand Bakshi, Owner of Bharat Overseas, a company that manufacturers Tandoors and grills. “We look forward to leveraging this registration to grow our domestic sales and expand beyond India.”
HACCP is the preferred method of protecting the public against food safety hazards in equipment. NSF’s HCV India program helps food equipment manufacturers to reduce food safety risks while supporting food service operations and their customers. To achieve registration, NSF reviews the equipment’s food contact materials, cleanability and performance. These checks help to minimize risks such as food contamination, food poisoning and an unhygienic environment.
“The HCV India registration provides credible validation to manufacturers, demonstrating that their food equipment is suitable for use in a HACCP-controlled environment,” said Jyoti Bhasin, Managing Director of APAC and ME, Global Food Safety Division, NSF. “We are excited to launch our HCV program in India with these two companies, and hope that others will join them in supporting hygienic design and food safety in commercial environments.”
NSF launched the HCV program in Europe in 2016 to address HACCP and European food contact material requirements. In 2022, NSF began offering the program in India, allowing manufacturers who want to sell equipment in the Indian market to demonstrate hygienic design.
“By successfully registering in NSF’s HCV India program, we have received validation from an independent third party that our equipment is safer to use in commercial kitchens while meeting industry best practices and regulatory standards,” said Ashish Sanghavi, Director of LL Equipment & Machines Pvt. Ltd, a leading manufacturer and distributor of commercial food equipment. “In turn, we are able to build trust from our clients and their consumers – all while protecting their health and safety.”
