Explain the link between pest activity, foodborne illness, and customer complaints.
Apply good housekeeping practices to eliminate food and water sources for pests.
Apply site pest prevention rules consistently during daily operations.
Understand the principles of Integrated Pest Management.
Understand the importance of trending, monitoring, and record keeping.
Identify common food factory pests and the microorganisms they may carry.
Identify signs of pest activity such as droppings, smear marks, gnawing, and nesting.
Identify structural vulnerabilities that allow pest entry (including waste zones, drains, stores, and loading bay).
Demonstrate correct reporting of pest sightings using site logs.
Demonstrate correct isolation of product where contamination risk exists.
