Amazon Policy for Water Delivery Products: Ensuring Lead-Free Compliance with NSF
October 22, 2025
NSF provides independent compliance verification services for water delivery products sold on Amazon, helping sellers meet regulatory requirements and protect public health.

Ensuring safe water delivery products on Amazon
To safeguard consumers, Amazon enforces strict policies for products intended to deliver potable water—used for drinking, cooking, food preparation, dishwashing and oral hygiene. These products include:
- Fixtures (receptacles or devices connected to the water supply).
- Plumbing fittings (controls for water flow/volume).
- Pipes (conduits/tubing).
- Pipe fittings (connecting pieces).
- Joining materials (solder, flux and sealants used in plumbing installation or repair).
Certification requirements
Under Amazon’s policy, sellers must ensure that all potable water delivery products are tested and certified as “lead-free” by an accredited ANSI certification body, such as NSF. Products that do not meet this requirement are prohibited from being sold on Amazon.
Amazon requires that all water delivery products have been tested to and comply with either of the standards listed below:
- NSF/ANSI/CAN Standard 61 (Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects).
- NSF/ANSI/CAN Standard 372 (Drinking Water System Components – Lead Content).
Partner with NSF
NSF is a trusted ANSI-accredited certification body that helps sellers:
- Navigate Amazon’s compliance process for water delivery products.
- Certify products to the highest standards.
- Minimize listing delays or product removals from Amazon.
- Build consumer trust with verified safety standards.
