Today's consumers are increasingly concerned that animals are humanely raised and handled. More than a third of shoppers frequently buy meat, poultry and other foods with a “no antibiotics” claim.1 Overuse of antibiotics in both human and veterinary medicine has led to the rise of superbugs, or bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics.
NSF’s Raised Without Antibiotics (RWA) certification brings credibility and consistency to a category where products often bear confusing and unverified label claims. The RWA protocol requires that no antibiotics of any kind were used in the raising animals. RWA is the only independent certification that covers all animal foods including meat, poultry, seafood, fish, dairy and eggs.
