Electrical Conduit Piping Testing and Certification

Ensure compliance and safety with NSF’s third-party certification for conduit pipes, fittings, and bends.

Why choose NSF for conduit certification?

Since 1965, NSF has been a trusted name in the plastic piping industry, protecting public health through rigorous standards development and testing. Now, we bring that same expertise to electrical conduit certification, helping manufacturers meet critical safety and performance standards.

As a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) by OSHA and accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), NSF provides the confidence your customers, regulators, and partners expect.

What we certify

NSF’s Conduit Certification Program includes listing and labeling for:

  • ANSI/UL 651 Schedule 40 and 80 Rigid PVC conduit and fittings
  • UL 651A for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) conduit
  • CSA-C22.2 No. 211.1 and No. 211.2 (Canadian standards)
  • SE 31765 – large-diameter PVC electrical conduit
  • NEMA TC-2 for electrical polyvinyl chloride (PVC) conduit
  • NEMA TC-7 for solid-wall coilable and straight electrical polyethylene conduit.

Our certification process

We guide you through a comprehensive, transparent process to ensure your products meet all applicable standards:

  • 1

    Formulation review and material testing

We evaluate each compound for compliance, testing for properties such as:

    • Tensile strength
    • Modulus of elasticity
    • Impact resistance
    • Deflection temperature
    • Flammability
  • 2

    Product testing

Finished conduit products are tested in NSF labs to verify construction and performance across all trade sizes and schedules.

  • 3

    Formulation registration

Once approved, you’ll receive an Authorized Registered Formulation document—ensuring only compliant materials are used in certified products.

  • 4

    Certification marking

Certified products may display the NSF Certification Mark and applicable standard directly on the print string.

Ongoing quality assurance

Certified conduit products are monitored under NSF/ANSI Standard 14, which includes:

  • Four unannounced facility audits per year
  • Sample collection during inspections for annual product testing.
