As Forestry Program Manager, Sustainability, Michelle Matteo leads NSF’s forestry service accreditation teams. In her role, she helps clients to navigate standard requirements while providing technical assistance to auditors in the field and support staff.

Matteo has worked in the forestry industry for more than two decades. In addition to her diverse auditing experience, she is the owner of Quercus Consulting, LLC. Matteo is a Massachusetts Licensed Forester, an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist, an American Tree Farm System® (ATFS®) Qualified Inspector and a Senior Lead Auditor for the Sustainable Forestry Initiative®, Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), the Forest Stewardship Council and ATFS®.

Matteo has a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology and a Master of Science in Forestry and Watershed Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is a member of the Society of American Foresters (SAF), the PEFC Chain of Custody Working Group, the board of the Northeast Master Logger Certification Program, and the SAF Accreditation Advisory Committee for the University of Massachusetts Forest Ecology and Conservation Program.
