IFS Logistics Certification

The IFS Logistics Standard is a globally recognized, risk-based certification developed to evaluate and ensure the quality, safety, and transparency of logistics operations. As supply chains grow more complex and customer expectations increase, logistics providers are under pressure to deliver goods efficiently while maintaining strict standards of control and traceability.

IFS Logistics Certification offers a structured framework for organizations to assess and strengthen their logistics practices — from transport and storage to temperature management and product handling. Designed with flexibility in mind, the standard applies to a wide range of business models and logistics services, including operations that involve transport, storage, distribution, loading and unloading:
- by road, rail, air or water
- of food and non-food products
- at any temperature, whether freezing, refrigerated, or non-refrigerated.
The standard covers all aspects of logistics in modern supply chains:
- HACCP programs and temperature control
- Specific services such as freezing, thawing, ripening, sorting of fruits and vegetables and labeling
- Crisis management and complaint handling
- Staff training and defense against internal and external threats
- Implementation of corrective actions.
How the IFS Logistics Certification works
The certification process follows four steps:
- 1
Scope definition
You work with the certification body to define the certification scope, based on your logistics services, product categories and organizational structure. - 2
Audit preparation
Auditors perform the assessment based on the IFS Logistics checklist. - 3
Evaluation
An auditor assesses compliance with each requirement and assigns a score based on their findings. - 4
Certification levels
The certification is awarded at one of two levels based on your overall score: Higher Level (95% or above) and Foundation Level (75-94%). The certificate displays your score and remains valid for one year.
