NSF provides certification to several GLOBALG.A.P. standards.
GLOBALG.A.P. Produce Safety Standard (PSS) Certification
This certification is ideal for producers supplying U.S. and Canadian retailers who are primarily concerned with the food safety of fresh produce. The certification:
- Is scalable, serving as a stepping stone to Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) certification
- Applies to fruits and vegetables for human consumption featured in the GLOBALG.A.P. product list
GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA)
This globally recognized food safety standard covers agricultural businesses such as fresh produce, field crops, livestock production, plant propagation and compound feed manufacture. It improves farm management practices and compliance with legislation in the key areas of food safety, protection of the environment, worker health and safety, and animal welfare. It is also:
- A Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) standard with food safety requirements recognized by retailers and foodservice buyers worldwide
- Implemented on more than 100,000 farms in more than 100 countries
- Well-known, proven and practical to adopt
- Recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) as a primary production scheme
This scheme is focused on the food safety of fresh or minimally processed products from the agricultural sector which are designated for human consumption. The scheme:
- Covers the scope of the supply chain, from pre- to post-farm gate production
- Is a fully recognized audit scheme covering HACCP, both GAP and GMP scopes, and food safety management systems
- Is Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) benchmarked
CanadaGAPNSF is one of only a few organizations accredited to certify to CanadaGAP, a national program consisting of food safety standards and a certification system for the safe production, storage and packing of fresh fruits and vegetables. Several Canadian buyers, including Loblaw Companies Limited, McCain Foods Canada, Simplot Canada and Lamb Weston, are requiring growers to become certified under the CanadaGAP program.
SQF and BRC
Safe Quality Food (SQF)
NSF International is accredited to certify to the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program, a comprehensive HACCP-based food safety and quality management certification system for all sectors of the food industry, from primary production to transport and distribution. SQF certification demonstrates a commitment to quality processes and continual improvement, and enables access to top retailers.
British Retail Consortium (BRC)
Developed by the British Retail Consortium, the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety covers food safety and management of product quality in food packing and processing operations. This certification helps promote consistency across the supply chain for food and ingredient manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors.
FSCS 22000 and IFS
Food Safety System Certification 22000 (FSSC 22000) is a complete GFSI recognized food safety certification system for food manufacturers, based on the ISO 22000 and PAS 220 standards. NSF is accredited to provide this certification under ISO 17021. This certification is for companies that process or manufacture animal products, perishable vegetable products, products with a long shelf life and other food ingredients like additives, vitamins and bio-cultures.
NSF is accredited to certify to the International Featured Standard (IFS), a GFSI benchmarked standard for auditing food safety and quality of processes and products of food manufacturers. IFS includes requirements for senior management responsibility, quality and food safety management systems, resource management, production process, measurements, analysis, improvements and food defense.
In any country around the globe, trust is one of the most crucial factors in the food supply chain. Give your customers and regulators the assurance they need to know that your products comply with globally recognized certification standards.
Recognized international standards including those benchmarked by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) tell your customers that your products have passed rigorous food safety standards and you are committed to minimizing environmental impacts, reducing chemical inputs and improving animal welfare.
In addition, these exacting standards help to protect your brand by reducing your risk of food safety incidents and produce recall.
